I have a friend, who is a doctor. Once he travelled to Beijing by train from Qingdao. On the way to Beijing, there are some children in the same cabin. The children were very naughty, they were screaming, fighting and running by all of the time just for funny. My friend found it was hard to have a rest or to go sleep with the noisy of the children. And he find other passengers had the same troubled.

 

Then, the question is where is the children's parents?

 

My friend said they were playing poker in another cabin. Maybe they found it was more fun to play poker than keeping their children quite. Whatever how did they think, they did nothing for looking care of their children. When my friend had no idea how to be quite, the tragedy happened. For the sudden slowdown of the train caused a great shock, one of the child who was on the bedside of upper berth was fell down and the back of his head was hit by a iron fence. He immediately flew into a coma.

 

As there is no any train doctor, the head of train crew had to look for doctor from the passenger by broadcast.

 

But my friend did nothing. He just pretended he was not a doctor. So they had to call the hospital near the next station, after the train arrived there, they could sent the poor child to the hospital at the first time.

 

Now the question is why my friend refused to help them?

 

I asked the question to him, and he answered me, for Chinese law will not protect the medical behavior under the non-medical environment. To be easier, if he did that, and the child died, the parents probably asked him to take responsibility, this is very common in China, then my friend will be the sinner of the child's dead. It means my friend did not want to take the high risk for it.

 

After I heard the story, I thought it was a double tragedy. Parents did not take care of their children, and the doctor was afraid to save child's life.
